A former town in Yazu District, eastern Tottori Prefecture. Funaoka, the town's center, is located at the mouth of the Oe and Hatto rivers, and is served by the Wakasa Railway. It was formerly the location of the Tottori Domain's chief retainer's camp and the starting point of Takase boat shipping. The town produces rice, melons, strawberries, shimeji mushrooms, nameko mushrooms, and other produce, and also processes food. 鳥取県東部,八頭(やず)郡の旧町。中心の船岡は大江,八東(はっとう)両川の渓口部にあり,若桜(わかさ)鉄道が通じる。もと鳥取藩の家老の陣屋所在地,高瀬舟舟運の起点であった。米,メロン,イチゴ,シメジ,ナメコなどを産し,食品加工も行う。2005年3月八頭郡郡家町,八東町と合併し町制,八頭町となる。53.67km2。4641人(2003)。
