1665‐1714 The last queen of the Stuart dynasty of England. Reigned 1702-14. She succeeded William III, who came to England from the Netherlands and ascended to the throne during the Glorious Revolution, after his death in 1702. She was the younger sister of Mary II, who was co-ruler with William III, and the youngest daughter of James II, who fled to France during the Glorious Revolution. Raised as an Anglican, she married a Danish prince in 1683. During the Glorious Revolution, she did not side with her father, James II, but instead sided with her sister's husband, William, but it is said that she did not get along well with her sister, Queen Mary.
