Mount Fudaraku

Japanese: 補陀落山 - ふだらくせん
Mount Fudaraku
A transliteration of the Sanskrit word Potalaka, it is a sacred place of Kannon Bodhisattva believed to be legendary in southern India. In China, Mount Putuo, which takes its name from Potalaka, is counted among the three most famous mountains, along with Mount Wutai and Mount Emei. In Japan, since Mount Nachi in Wakayama Prefecture is located to the south, it is considered the first of the Thirty-Three Kannon Temples of the Western Provinces.
