...It was named after this instrument. In the same year, Maurice Martenot (1898-1980) in France invented the Ondes Martenot, which controls the frequency by moving a ribbon attached to a metal ring, and also patented the keyboard. Various tone effects are achieved by using a sound-producing body with a string stretched in front of a speaker, and there are many compositions using this instrument.
