Cadmium red

Japanese: カドミウムレッド - かどみうむれっど（英語表記）cadmium red

A solid solution of cadmium sulfide (CdS) and cadmium selenide (CdSe), an inorganic pigment with the structure CdS･ nCdSe . As the content of cadmium selenide increases, the color changes from bright orange to scarlet or maroon. Some pigments contain barium sulfate as a strengthening agent. Specific gravity is 3.9-4.5, and it has good alkali resistance but not so good acid resistance. It has excellent heat resistance, but sublimes at 900-950°C. It has very good light resistance. This type has a wide range of colors and a well-balanced range of properties, making it versatile and used for coloring paints, printing inks, glass, ceramics, enamel, and plastics.

硫化カドミウムCdSとセレン化カドミウムCdSeの固溶体，CdS･nCdSeの構造をもつ無機顔料。色はセレン化カドミウムの含量が増加するとともに鮮橙色からスカーレット(緋)，マルーン(栗)に移る。体質補強剤として硫酸バリウムを含むものもある。比重3.9～4.5，耐アルカリ性はよいが，耐酸性はあまりよくない。耐熱性は優れるが，900～950℃で昇華する。耐光性は非常に優れる。この系統は色の範囲が広く，諸性質もバランスよく優れているため用途も広く，塗料，印刷インキ，ガラス･陶磁器･ホウロウ･プラスチックの着色に用いられる。
