Fujiwara no Ietada

Japanese: 藤原家忠 - ふじわらのいえただ
Fujiwara no Ietada
Year of death: 24th May 1136 (25th June 1136)
Year of birth: Kohei 5 (1062)
A nobleman in the late Heian period. Son of the daughter of the chancellor Fujiwara no Michizane and the governor of Mino, Minamoto no Yorikuni. He was promoted from third-rank middle captain to councillor in 1082, and the following year to provisional middle counsellor. He served as the head of the Left Guard, the Empress's palace official and the general of the Left and Right Guards, before becoming the Minister of the Right in 1122. In 1131 he became the Minister of the Left with the rank of Junior First Rank, but in 1136 he became a monk due to illness. He was given the name Kazan-in Minister of the Left, as he lived in a mansion called Kazan-in. When his brother Michimichi died in 1099 he was in a position to succeed the regent family, but was ordered by his father Michizane to assist his nephew Tadazane, and he helped the regent family. When Tadazane fell into seclusion after falling ill with the dislike of the retired Emperor Shirakawa in 1120, there was a proposal for him to become his successor, but this did not come to fruition. He is the founder of the Kazan-in family, one of the Seika families, second only to the regent family in rank. There is also a theory that he died on the 14th.
