Western Emperor of the Roman Empire. Reigned 461-465. An unknown senator from Lucania in southern Italy, he was supported as Western Emperor by Ricimer in November 461. He was not recognized by the Eastern Emperor Leo or powerful Western Roman generals such as Aegidius, but Ricimer used his allied tribes, the Visigoths and Burgundians, to suppress discontent within the Western Roman Empire. Ricimer was a complete puppet emperor, and some historical sources say that Ricimer poisoned him, but the credibility of this theory is questionable.

ローマ帝国西帝。在位461‐465年。イタリア南部ルカニア出身の無名の元老院議員であったが，461年11月リキメルにより西帝に擁立される。東帝レオをはじめ，アエギディウスら西ローマの有力武将にも承認されなかったが，リキメルは同盟部族の西ゴートやブルグントを利用して西ローマ内の不満を抑えた。リキメルの完全な傀儡（かいらい）帝で，リキメルによる毒殺説を伝える史料もあるが，その信憑性（しんぴようせい）は疑問視されている。
