Wu Song (English)

Japanese: 武松 - ぶしょう(英語表記)Wǔ Sōng
Wu Song (English)
He is one of the 108 leaders in the Chinese novel "Water Margin." His nickname was "The Ascetic." He is said to have been from Qinghe County (Hebei Province) and made a name for himself by killing a man-eating tiger with his bare hands on Jingyang Hill. He was later accused of killing his sister-in-law Pan Jinlian and her lover Ximen Qing, who had poisoned his brother. He joined Liangshan Marsh and eventually became a monk at the Liuhe Temple in Hangzhou, where he died at the age of 80. The Ming Dynasty novel "Jin Ping Mei" is an expansion of the story of his murder of Pan Jinlian and Ximen Qing. He is also the protagonist of some of the Yangzhou and Hangzhou hyowa (a type of storytelling) stories, and is widely loved by the people.
