Muscardine

Japanese: 硬化病 - こうかびょう(英語表記)muscardine
Muscardine
This disease of insects is so named because the corpses harden. Fungal spores germinate on the surface of the body, and the germ tubes penetrate the body through the skin, turning into hyphae and affecting the entire body. This is the disease of silkworms in particular. There are white sclerotinia, yellow sclerotinia, green sclerotinia, and black sclerotinia. Disinfecting silkworm rooms and silkworm equipment with formalin or high-grade bleaching powder is an effective method of prevention. There are also several types of disinfectants for silkworm bodies.
