A socialist unity organization in the early 1920s. After the rice riots, the labor movement and the universal suffrage movement rapidly gained momentum, and the socialist movement, which had been forced into a "period of winter," became more active. In response to Sakai Toshihiko's proposal for "a great ideological unity of progressives," socialists such as Hashiura Tokio, Iwasa Sakutaro, and Yamazaki Kessami began to take concrete action, and on August 5, 1920, a statement of purpose and a draft constitution were published. Under the banner of "uniting socialists of all attitudes and all colors," the founders included Marxists such as Sakai and Yamakawa Eiji, anarcho-syndicalists such as Osugi Sakae and Kondo Kenji, as well as literary figures such as Obata Koko from the Authors' Union, labor unions such as the Friendship Society and the Watchmakers' Union, and the younger generation from student groups such as the Newcomers' Association and the Builders' Alliance.

1920年代初頭の社会主義者の大同団結組織。米騒動後，急速に労働運動，普選運動の勢いが高まるなかで，〈冬の時代〉を強いられていた社会主義運動が活性化してきた。堺利彦の〈進歩主義の思想的大同団結〉の提唱を受けて，橋浦時雄，岩佐作太郎，山崎今朝弥らの社会主義者を中心に具体化が進み，20年8月5日，趣旨書と規約草案が発表された。〈あらゆる態度あらゆる色彩の社会主義者を糾合〉することを旗印にし，発起人には堺，山川均らのマルクス主義者，大杉栄，近藤憲二らのアナルコ･サンディカリストとともに，著作家組合の大庭柯公らの文学者，友愛会や時計工組合などの労働組合，新人会や建設者同盟などの学生団体からの若い世代も名を連ねた。
