Fujimori Koan

Japanese: 藤森弘庵 - ふじもりこうあん

1799-1862 A Confucian scholar in the late Edo period.
Born on March 11, 1792. Studied under Nagano Toyozan. Served in the Ono Domain in Harima and the Tsuchiura Domain in Hitachi, and opened a school in Edo in 1845. When Perry arrived, he published "On Coastal Defense" and presented "Suggen" to Tokugawa Nariaki. He was banished to Edo during the Ansei Purge, but was later pardoned. Died on October 8, 1862. Age 64. Born in Edo. His given name was Taiga. His pen name was Junpu. He was commonly known as Kyosuke. His other name was Tenzan.

寛政11年3月11日生まれ。長野豊山にまなぶ。播磨(はりま)小野藩,常陸(ひたち)土浦藩につかえ,弘化(こうか)4年江戸で塾をひらく。ペリー来航の際「海防備論」をあらわし,「芻言(すうげん)」を徳川斉昭(なりあき)に献じた。安政の大獄で江戸追放となるが,のちゆるされた。文久2年10月8日死去。64歳。江戸出身。名は大雅。字(あざな)は淳風。通称は恭助。別号に天山。
