Born on March 11, 1792. Studied under Nagano Toyozan. Served in the Ono Domain in Harima and the Tsuchiura Domain in Hitachi, and opened a school in Edo in 1845. When Perry arrived, he published "On Coastal Defense" and presented "Suggen" to Tokugawa Nariaki. He was banished to Edo during the Ansei Purge, but was later pardoned. Died on October 8, 1862. Age 64. Born in Edo. His given name was Taiga. His pen name was Junpu. He was commonly known as Kyosuke. His other name was Tenzan.
