Washing soda - Sentakusoda (English spelling)

It is also called crystalline soda or salt. It is usually sodium carbonate decahydrate _{( Na2CO3}・_10H2O ), but it can also contain monohydrate or a double salt with sodium bicarbonate ( _{sesquicarbonate} ) ( _Na2CO3・_NaHCO3・_2H2O ). It dissolves more easily in water than the anhydrous fine powder, i.e. soda ash, and is used for cleaning cotton and wool, as well as washing animal fibers.

結晶ソーダ、ザルソウなどともいう。通常、炭酸ナトリウム十水和物Na₂CO₃・10H₂Oをさすが、一水和物や、炭酸水素ナトリウムとの複塩であるセスキ炭酸塩Na₂CO₃・NaHCO₃・2H₂Oなどを含めることもある。無水和物の微細粉末、すなわちソーダ灰より水に溶けやすく、綿布、羊毛などの洗浄や、動物性繊維の洗濯に用いられる。
