A Nagauta singer. There have been six generations to date, but the second is the most famous. (1) First Generation (?-1827 (Bunsei 10)) A disciple of the first Fujita Yoshitsugu. Formerly named Jinzaburo. In 1770 (Meiwa 7), he changed his name to Onzo. Until around 1798 (Kansei 10), he was active as a stand-up singer at the Morita-za and Nakamura-za theatres. (2) Second Generation (1798-1859∥Kansei 10-Ansei 6) A disciple of the first Fujita Senzo. Formerly named Shinzo. In 1841 (Tenpo 12), he took on the name of the second generation. He was called "Onzo of beautiful voice" because of his powerful and beautiful voice, and is counted among the three great masters of the Tenpo period, along with Okayasu Kiyohachi and the third Yoshimura Ijuro. 長唄の唄方。現在まで6世を数えるが,2世が著名。(1)初世(?‐1827(文政10)) 初世富士田吉次の門弟。前名仁三郎。1770年(明和7)音蔵と改名。98年(寛政10)ころまで,森田座,中村座の立唄(たてうた)として活躍した。(2)2世(1798‐1859∥寛政10‐安政6) 初世富士田千蔵の門弟。前名新蔵。1841(天保12)2世を襲名。声量豊かで美声であったことから〈美音の音蔵〉と呼ばれ,岡安喜代八,3世芳村伊十郎とともに天保の三名人に数えられている。
