A white pigment whose main component is titanium dioxide powder. Its composition is TiO ₂ . It is produced by decomposing ilmenite, iron sand, and titanium-rich sites with sulfuric acid, followed by hydrolysis. It has two crystal types, anatase and rutile. It has the greatest coloring and covering power among white pigments, and the rutile type is particularly excellent. It is also non-toxic and stable, and is used in a wide range of applications, including paints, matting rayon and staple fiber, printing inks, paints, crayons, rubber products, plastics, enamel, paper, cosmetics, ceramics, capacitors, and leather.

二酸化チタンの粉末を主成分とする白色顔料。組成は TiO₂ 。チタン鉄鉱，砂鉄，高チタンサイトなどを硫酸分解後，加水分解して製造する。アナタース型とルチル型の結晶型がある。白色顔料中，着色力，被覆力が最も大きく，特にルチル型はすぐれている。また無害で安定なため塗料，人絹やスフのつや消し，印刷インキ，絵具，クレヨン，ゴム製品，プラスチック，ほうろう，製紙，化粧品，陶磁器，コンデンサ，皮革など多方面にわたって用いられている。
