A clan of warriors based in the Kamiina region of Nagano Prefecture in the Middle Ages. It is said to have begun when Chikasada, the son of Chino Mitsuchika, a member of the Suwa clan of Suwa Taisha Kamisha, ruled over Fujisawa in what is now Takato Town, Kamiina County. Chikasada's son Kiyochika served as a retainer from the early days of the Kamakura Shogunate, and is often mentioned in the Azuma Kagami as an archer such as Yumihajime. The name of Morikage also appears in the Azuma Kagami from around the same time, but his relationship with Kiyochika is unclear. The situation in the latter half of the Kamakura period is unclear, but the Fujisawa clan is seen based in Minowa (present-day Minowa Town, Kamiina County) in 1457 (Choroku 1) during the Muromachi period.
