A new school actor and author from the Meiji and Taisho periods. Born in Kyoto. He met Kawakami Otojiro while working as a reporter for the magazine "Katsugan" in Kyoto and "Shinonome Shimbun" in Osaka, and participated in the launch of Kawakami's Shosei-shibai in 1891 as both an actor and author, writing scripts such as "The True Story of Itagaki-kun's Accident" and "The Sino-Japanese War," and playing an active role as the vice-leader of Kawakami's troupe. He also performed with Takada Minoru and others, and his hit roles included Kan'ichi in "Konjiki Yasha" and Tsukaguchi in "Okinagashi." In 1906, he used his own money to open the Tokyo Actor's Training School and trained the next generation of actors, but he died in obscurity in his later years in Imado-cho, Asakusa. <References> "The Truths of Famous Families 16: Fujisawa Asajiro" ("Engei Gaho," April 1908 issue)

明治大正期の新派俳優,作者。京都生まれ。京都で雑誌『活眼』,大阪で『東雲新聞』の記者をしたころ川上音二郎と知りあい,明治24(1891)年川上の書生芝居の旗揚げに俳優兼作者として参加,「板垣君遭難実記」「日清戦争」などの台本を書き,川上一座の副将として活躍した。また高田実らと共演,当たり役に「金色夜叉」の貫一,「己が罪」の塚口がある。41年私財を投じて東京俳優養成所を開設,後進の育成に当たったが,晩年不遇のうちに浅草今戸町で没した。<参考文献>「名家真相録16・藤沢浅二郎」(『演芸画報』明治41年4月号)
