Golden vine - Golden vine

A general term for the genus Skindapsus, in the Araceae family (APG classification: Araceae), native to tropical Asia and New Guinea. It grows as a vine, either attached to other things or creeping along the ground, and is used for decoration on tree staghorn or in a hanging pot. The representative species, Epipremnum aureum (Linden ex André) Bunting ( S. aureus Engl.), is native to the Solomon Islands and known by its former genus name, Pothos, and is widely distributed in the tropics. The vine has linear grooves, and the leaves are egg-shaped, oblong, with irregular pale yellow spots on the surface, and the large leaves are notched. The marbled quin variety has milky white spots and is also known as the silver pothos. The picta species (large silver vine) has small leaves that are dark green and have silvery white spots on the surface. A similar but even smaller species is the silver vine. Keep golden vines at 15°C or higher in winter. They produce aerial roots halfway up the vine, and for propagation, cut the vine with 2-3 leaves attached, and plant it in a small pot with sphagnum moss in June.

サトイモ科（APG分類：サトイモ科）スキンダプサス属の総称で、熱帯アジア、ニューギニア原産。つる性で他に付着したり地面をはうように伸び、観賞するにはヘゴ材につけたり吊(つ)り鉢にする。代表種のEpipremnum aureum (Linden ex André) Bunting（S. aureus Engl.）はソロモン諸島原産、旧属名であるポトスの名で知られ、熱帯に広く分布する。つるに線状の溝があり、葉は卵状長楕円(ちょうだえん)形で表面に淡黄色の斑(ふ)模様が不規則に入り、大きな葉には切れ込みが入る。変種のマーブル・クインは斑が乳白色でシルバー・ポトスの名もある。ピクタ種（オオシラフカズラ）は葉が小さく、暗緑色で表面に銀白の斑(はん)点が入る。これに似るがさらに小さなものにシラフカズラがある。オウゴンカズラは冬は15℃以上に保つ。つるの途中から気根を出すほどで、繁殖は葉を2～3枚つけてつるを切り、6月ごろ小鉢にミズゴケで植える。
