[Diversification of theaters]
The main theaters that were rebuilt or newly constructed after the disaster were the Hongo-za, Enki-za, Shochiku-za, Ichimura-za, Imperial Theater, Hogaku-za, the aforementioned Tsukiji Little Theater, and the Kabuki-za in 1924. The new Shinbashi Enbujo in 1925, the Bunraku-za in Yotsubashi, Osaka, and the Tokyo Theater in 1930, the Osaka Kabuki-za in 1932, the Nippon Theater in Yurakucho in 1933, the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater in 1934, the Yurakuza in 1935, and the International Theater in Asakusa in 1937. From the Taisho to the Showa era, kabuki, shinpa, Shinkokugeki, opera, ballet, new drama, Bunraku, and dance entered an era of turbulent diversification and prosperity, not only at the theaters mentioned above but also at theaters and halls in various places where they toured.

...Due to locational conditions, there is no revolving stage, but instead, the floats covering one side of the stage are split in two from the center and retracted to the left and right, creating a sliding stage from which another set of floats rises up. The Osaka Kabukiza, built in Sennichimae, Osaka in 1932, was the center of Kansai Kabuki, but closed in April 1958 due to poor business performance. The Shin Kabukiza is its successor. ...

 震災後に,復興または新しく建設されたおもな劇場は,24年に本郷座・演伎座・松竹座・市村座・帝国劇場・邦楽座に前記の築地小劇場,25年の歌舞伎座とつづく。25年に新たに新橋演舞場,30年に大阪四ッ橋の文楽座や東京劇場,32年に大阪歌舞伎座,33年に有楽町の日本劇場,34年に東京宝塚劇場,35年に有楽座,37年に浅草の国際劇場などが次々に竣工した。大正から昭和へかけて,歌舞伎・新派・新国劇・歌劇・バレエ・新劇・文楽や舞踊などが,上記の劇場はもとより巡業先の各地の劇場やホールで,撩乱たる多様化と繁栄の時代を迎えたのである。…
