Pubic hair - Inmo

After puberty, this refers to the terminal hair found mainly in men from the pubic symphysis to the scrotum, and in women from the mons pubis to the front half of the labia majora. In women, this is a type of sexual hair also called pubic hair. It is 4.5 to 10.5 centimeters long and is often curly. As a secondary sexual characteristic, the distribution of pubic hair changes under the influence of male hormones and adrenal male hormones. There are four types of pubic hair: the horizontal type, which has an inverted triangular shape with the base near the pubic symphysis; the sagittal type, which runs in a straight line from the base to the navel along the anterior midline; the spire type, which also spreads in a triangular shape toward the navel; and the dispersed type, which spreads in a scattered manner with an unclear shape. The horizontal type is mainly seen in women, while the others are mostly seen in men. This is because the pubic hair above the pubic symphysis is influenced by male hormones. It is said that men also become horizontal in old age. It is also said that female hormones cause pubic hair to become curly. A woman's pubic hair loses its curliness and becomes straight after menopause. In cases of Addison's disease caused by adrenal insufficiency, pubic hair may be absent, although not to the same extent as armpit hair, and hair loss and loss of curliness can also be seen in cases of liver cirrhosis. In addition, the application of male hormone ointment is effective for women with vulvar alopecia.

思春期以降、おもに男性では恥骨結合部付近から陰嚢(いんのう)にわたり、女性では恥丘から大陰唇前半部にかけてみられる硬毛をいい、女性の場合は恥毛ともよばれる性毛の一種。長さは4.5～10.5センチメートル、縮れていることが多い。第二次性徴の一つとして、男性ホルモンや副腎(ふくじん)性男性ホルモンの影響を受けて陰毛の分布形態に変化がみられる。すなわち、恥骨結合部付近を底辺とする逆三角形状を呈する水平型、これから前正中線に沿って直線状にへそに向かう矢状型、同様に三角形状の広がりをもってへそに向かう尖塔(せんとう)型、および分散的で形状がはっきりしない広がりをみせる分散型の4型がある。水平型はおもに女性にみられ、他はほとんど男性にみられる。これは恥骨結合部から上方の陰毛が男性ホルモンの影響を受けていることによる。男性も老年期には水平型になるという。また、陰毛の縮れを生じさせるのは女性ホルモンとされる。女性の陰毛は更年期を境に縮れを失い直毛化する。なお、副腎機能不全によるアジソン病では腋毛(えきもう)（わき毛）ほどではないが陰毛を欠くことがあり、肝硬変でも脱落や毛の縮れの消失がみられる。また、女性の外陰部無毛症には男性ホルモン軟膏の塗布が有効である。
