Summary of Military Economics - Bukei Soyo

A military technology book from the Song dynasty in China. Compiled by Zeng Gongliang, Chengdu and others of the Northern Song dynasty, it was completed in 1044. It consists of 40 volumes. At the time, there was an invasion by the Western Xia, and Emperor Renzong ordered Zeng Gongliang and others to compile knowledge on military strategy, tactics, military technology and so on. It is divided into two collections, the former and the latter, with the former consisting of 15 volumes on systems and 5 volumes on border defense, and the latter consisting of 15 volumes on stories and 5 volumes on divination. It contains many illustrations of weapons and battle formations, and articles on the manufacture and use of gunpowder and flamethrowers.

中国、宋(そう)代の軍事技術書。北宋の曽公亮(そうこうりょう)、丁度(ていたく)らの撰(せん)により、1044年に完成。全40巻からなる。当時、西夏(せいか)の侵入などもあって、仁宗(じんそう)が曽公亮らに命じて兵法、作戦、軍事技術などの知識をまとめさせた。前・後の2集に分かれ、前集は制度15巻・辺防5巻、後集は故事15巻・占候5巻となっている。兵器類や陣立てなどの図が多く掲載され、火薬の製法や使用法、火炎放射器の類などの記事がある。
