Born December 21, 1937 in New York, New York. American actress. Real name Jane Seymour Fonda. Her father is actor Henry Fonda. She dropped out of Vassar College, a prestigious women's college, after two years, and studied acting under Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio in New York in 1958, where she also worked as a model. In 1960, she made her Broadway debut in the play "There Was a Little Girl" and made her film debut in Tall Story. In the 1960s, she played comical roles in many films, including Cat Ballou (1965) and Barefoot in the Park (1967). She later appeared in socially conscious films such as They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), Klute (1971), Coming Home (1978), and The China Syndrome (1979). She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for both Klute and Coming Home. In 1981, she co-starred with her father in On Golden Pond. She left the film industry for a time, but returned in 2005 with Monster-in-Law. She is also known as a political activist, and was active as an anti-establishment activist in the 1970s and 1980s. She was involved in the anti-Vietnam War movement, and in 1972 she visited Hanoi in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) and criticized the US military's bombing of North Vietnam (see Vietnam War). In her private life, she was married and divorced three times: to French film director Roger Vadim, to American politician Tom Hayden, and to CNN founder Ted Turner.

[Died] August 12, 1982. Los Angeles, California. American stage and film actor. Full name Henry Jaynes Fonda. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and was invited by Marlon Brando's mother Dorothy to perform with the Omaha Community Playhouse. After studying journalism at the University of Minnesota, he moved to the East Coast in 1928. He joined the University Players, a student theater group, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, where he met his future wife, Margaret Sullavan, and others. In 1934, he played his first leading role in the Broadway play The Farmer Takes a Wife, and made his film debut in 1935 in the same role in the film adaptation. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He appeared in many films directed by John Ford both before and after the war, including The Grapes of Wrath (1940) and My Darling Clementine (1946). In 1948, he made a triumphant return to Broadway, winning a Tony Award for his role in Mister Roberts. He continued to appear in films in his later years, winning the Academy Award for Best Actor for his final film, On Golden Pond (1981). The year before, he had received an Honorary Academy Award.
