Born: September 10, 1917 in Florence
[Died] November 28, 1994.
Italian poet and critic. His real name was Lattes. He served in the army during World War II, and after the Italian surrender he became a partisan and participated in the war of liberation in the Valdossola region. He was editor of Avanti! from 1945 to 1948. He joined many literary magazines, including Vittorini's Politecnico, and promoted the anti-establishment avant-garde cultural movement. His major works include Dieci inverni 1947-57 (1957), Verifica dei poteri (Testimonies of Power) (65), I cani del Sinai (Dogs of Sinai) (67), and 24voci per un dizionario (69).
