A city located 20km northwest of Quy Nhon in south-central Vietnam. It has a population of about 120,000. It is also called An Nhon. It is located at the eastern foot of the mountain range that runs parallel to the coast, facing the Ha Jao River. It is a strategically important location on National Highway 19, which branches off from the coast and heads west through Pleik, crosses the Kon Tum Plateau, and leads to Stung Treng on the Mekong River in Cambodia. For this reason, the area was often a battlefield during the Vietnam War. Vijaya, the former capital of the Champa Kingdom, is nearby. [Bessagi Atsuhiko]

ベトナム中南部，クイニョンの北西20kmにある都市。人口約12万。アンニョンAn Nhonともいう。海岸に平行してのびる山地の東麓に位置し，ハジャオ川に臨む。海岸から分かれて西方のプレークを経，コントゥム高原を越えてカンボジアのメコン河畔のストゥントレンへ通ずる国道19号線の通る戦略上の要地にあたる。このためベトナム戦争中しばしば付近は戦場となった。チャンパ王国の旧都ビジャヤが付近にある。【別技篤彦】
