Kotora Tanahashi

1889-1973 A social activist and politician from the Taisho to Showa eras.
Born on January 14, 1889. Joined the Yuaikai in 1917. Became chairman of the Japan Labor Union Alliance in 1912, and participated in the formation of the Japan Labor-Farmer Party. In 1946, he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from the Socialist Party, and later as a member of the House of Councillors (elected twice). In 1960, he participated in the formation of the Democratic Socialist Party. Died on February 20, 1973. Age 84. Born in Nagano Prefecture. Graduated from Tokyo Imperial University.

明治22年1月14日生まれ。大正6年友愛会にはいる。15年日本労働組合同盟会長となり,また日本労農党の結成に参加。昭和21年社会党から衆議院議員,のち参議院議員(当選2回)。35年民社党結成に参加。昭和48年2月20日死去。84歳。長野県出身。東京帝大卒。
