Around 1285 - 1348
Igarashi was a manuscript illustrator and painter who served the Aragonese royal family in Spain. The only known surviving work is a mural in the chapel of the Pedralbes monastery near Barcelona, depicting scenes from the Passion in the upper section and the Life of the Virgin Mary in the lower section, in oil painting, which was rare at the time. He is thought to have traveled to Italy to study Giotto and the Sienese school, and he introduced them to Catalonia, leading painting in the region in a new direction. His son, Arnau Bassa (date of birth and death unknown), was also a painter. [Igarashi Midori]

スペインのアラゴン王家に仕えた写本挿絵師で画家。現存する確実な作品は，バルセロナ近郊のペドラルベスPedralbes修道院付属礼拝堂の壁画のみで，上段に〈受難〉，下段に〈聖母伝〉の諸場面を，当時にはまれな油彩で描く。彼自身がイタリアへ赴いて学んだとも思われるジョットやシエナ派をカタルニャ地方に伝え，同地方の絵画を新方向へ導く。息子アルナウ･バッサArnau Bassa(生没年不詳)も画家。【五十嵐ミドリ】
