〘 noun 〙① In the Nara and Heian periods, a person who was in charge of transporting goods and tributes to the capital. A footman. ※Shoku Nihongi - Wadou 5th year (712), May 1st, Koshin "At the time of the first tour of the lower provincial governors and the transfer of powers, it was decided that two food boxes, horses , and footmen should be provided."② A worker who transports luggage. A laborer. ※Yomihon Chushin Suikoden (1799-1801), first part "Take these two long chests to a strong footman ."③ An old name for a postman.
