[1] A collection of haiku and Chinese poetry and prose. Essays. The first volume is three volumes and the second volume is one. Compiled by Shoji Katsutomi. The first volume was published in 1738. The second volume was completed in 1733 and is handed down in a manuscript. In addition to the works of the editor, who was a brothel owner in Yoshiwara, it contains haiku essays about Yoshiwara by haiku poets, artists, and prostitutes. [2] Essays. Two volumes. Compiled by Shoji Katsutomi. Completed in 1720. To distinguish it from (1), it is often called the "Ihon Dobo Goen." It describes the history of Yoshiwara, a pleasure quarter in Edo. Because it was handed down in the form of handwritten copies, there are many variant versions which had additional material added during the transcription process. Representative examples include the expanded version by Santo Kyoden, 'Kitajori Kigen' expanded by Edo-za haiku poet Ishihara Toryu ('Dobo Goen Ihon Koi' is a collection of only the expanded material), and 'Kitasato Kenbunroku' by Kankanro Yoshitaka.

[一] 俳諧・漢詩文集。随筆。前集三巻・後集一巻。庄司勝富編。前集は元文三年（一七三八）刊。後集は享保一八年（一七三三）成立で、写本で伝わる。吉原の遊女屋主人である編者の作のほか、俳人・絵師・遊女などの吉原に関する句文を収める。[二] 随筆。二巻。庄司勝富編。享保五年（一七二〇）成立。(一)と区別するために「異本洞房語園」と称されることが多い。江戸の遊里吉原の歴史を述べたもの。写本で伝わったため、転写の過程で増補記事を加えた異本が多数あり、代表的なものに、山東京伝の増補本や、江戸座の俳人石原徒流が増補した「北女閭起原」（「洞房語園異本考異」は増補記事のみを集めたもの）、寛閑楼佳孝著「北里見聞録」がある。
