A Dominican priest from Valencia in eastern Spain, he was a saint in the Catholic Church. He supported Pope Clement VII in Avignon and became confessor to Pope Benedict XIII. He preached against heresy in France and Italy, and was an eloquent preacher amid the growing anti-Semitic sentiment in the Iberian countries at the time. He also participated in domestic and international politics due to his knowledge and popularity, and cast his vote for the future King Ferdinand I at the Council of Caspe (1412), which selected the successor to the throne of the United Kingdom of Aragon.

スペイン東部バレンシア出身のドミニコ会士で，カトリック教会の聖人。アビニョンの教皇クレメンス7世を支持し，ベネディクトゥス13世の聴罪司祭となる。フランス，イタリアなどで異端に対して伝道し，当時しだいに激しくなりつつあったイベリア諸国の反ユダヤ主義思潮の中でも雄弁な説教家として活躍した。他方，その学識と人望から内外の政治にも参与，アラゴン連合王国の王位継承者を選定したカスペ会議(1412)で後のフェルナンド1世に1票を投じた。
