Hoogovens

... The metal industry is dominated by steel, machinery, electronics and shipbuilding. The state-owned Hoogovens steelworks in IJmuiden was established in 1924 and is now the largest integrated steelworks in Western Europe. It also smelts tin, aluminium and zinc. The electronics industry is represented by the multinational company Philips (Philips-Gröhelanpenfabriken) in Eindhoven.
