Feodosia (English spelling)

Japanese: フェオドシア（英語表記）Feodosia

A port city in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine. It is located in the southeast of the Crimean Peninsula, facing the Black Sea. Population: 85,600 (1991). It is also known as a health resort, with its mud baths and mineral springs. It was founded as a colony by Greeks from Miletus in the 6th century BC and called Theodosia. It was occupied by the Mongol army in the 13th century, and in 1266 the Golden Horde handed over sovereignty of the city to Genoese merchants. At that time it was called Kaffa, and was the center of Genoese Black Sea trade until the 15th century.

ウクライナ，クリミア自治共和国の港湾都市。クリミア半島の南東にあり，黒海に臨む。人口8万5600(1991)。泥浴用鉱泉があり，保養地としても知られる。前6世紀にミレトスのギリシア人によって植民市として開かれ，テオドシアTheodosiaと呼ばれた。その後，13世紀にモンゴル軍に占領され，1266年にはキプチャク･ハーン国によって町の主権がジェノバの商人に委ねられた。当時はカッファKaffaと呼ばれ，15世紀までジェノバの黒海貿易の中心となっていた。
