Kimaro - Kinomaro

Japanese: 紀麻呂 - きのまろ
Kimaro - Kinomaro
Year of death: Tenpyo Hoji 1? (757)
Year of birth: Year of birth unknown. Father of Hirona and Hironiwa. Also written as Asaji. In January 720, he was promoted to Junior Fifth Rank. Later, he served as Shikibu Daifu (Minister of Ceremonies) and in May 743, he became a councilor. He then became the Minister of Civil Affairs and held the posts of Ueji no Kami (Commander of the Right Guard). In July 749, he was promoted to Junior Third Rank Chunagon (Chuanjō). He later served as the head of the Shikibu Ministry and Dazaifu (Dazaifu City), but his whereabouts after March 757 are unknown. According to the article on the accession of Emperor Junnin (758) in the Shoku Nihongi, he conspired with the Retired Empress Koken and Fujiwara no Nakamaro to depose Crown Prince Doso and make Oino (later Emperor Junnin) Crown Prince, so he appears to have taken a position close to Nakamaro.
