A mammal of the Felidae family in the carnivora order. It resembles a leopard, but has a small body and a long, thick tail. It once ranged widely from Siberia to Central Asia and the Himalayas, but now it is found in the highlands from Afghanistan to Lake Baikal and in the Himalayas to eastern Tibet. Its body length is 100-130 cm, tail length 80-100 cm, shoulder height 60 cm, and weight 25-75 kg. Its fur is long and thick, measuring 4-5 cm on the back and 8-10 cm on the ventral side, but is shorter on the head and limbs. Its ground color is grayish white with a light yellowish brown tinge, and it has dark brown markings similar to those of a leopard, but they are not very clear.
