Counterattack - Counterattack

Japanese:
Counterattack - Counterattack

It is one of the three major techniques in Judo, along with throwing and pinning. It is a technique in which you use your limbs or head to strongly thrust, hit, or kick the opponent's vulnerable parts of the body, causing pain or temporarily knocking him unconscious. That is, it is a technique of thrusting, striking, and kicking the vital points of the human body, such as the top of the head (tento), between the eyebrows (uto), under the nose (jinchu), temples (kasumi), solar plexus (suigetsu), right spleen (denkou), left spleen (getsuei), lower abdomen (myoujou), and testicles, using the fist, hand, fingertips, elbow, knee, sole (base of the toes on the sole of the foot), and heel. The contents are as follows: (1) Thrust techniques - fist-atte (kobushi-ate), fingertip-atte, elbow-atte, etc. (2) Striking techniques - fist-atte, hand-atte, etc. (3) Kicking techniques - knee-atte, head-atte, heel-atte, etc.

Incidentally, today, throwing and pinning techniques are used in randori practice and matches, and striking techniques are prohibited because they are dangerous. Therefore, striking techniques are practiced in kata such as Seiryoku Zenyo National Physical Education (exercises based on striking techniques invented by Jigoro Kano in 1927), Kime no Kata, Kodokan Self-Defense Technique, and Women's Self-Defense Technique, and techniques are mastered through these.
