Binding, Rudolf Georg
Born: August 13, 1867 in Basel
[Died] August 4, 1938. Starnberg German poet and novelist. Born as the son of a legal scholar, he first studied law and then medicine. He entered the literary world at the age of 40, and his short story Der Opfergang (1912), based on his experiences in World War I, became a best-seller in the Insel Library. He later supported the Nazis. His other works include the poetry collection Stolz und Trauer (22), Pride and Sorrow, and his autobiography Erlebtes Leben (27).

ドイツの詩人,小説家。法学者の息子として生れ,初め法学,続いて医学を学んだ。文壇に登場したのは 40歳のときであったが,第1次世界大戦での体験をもとにした短編小説『身代り』 Der Opfergang (1912) はインゼル文庫のロングセラーとなった。のちナチスを支持。ほかに詩集『誇りと悲しみ』 Stolz und Trauer (22) ,自伝『生の体験』 Erlebtes Leben (27) など。
