Pyrophosphoric acid (pyrophosphoric acid)

Japanese: ピロリン酸(ピロ燐酸) - ピロりんさん（英語表記）pyrophosphoric acid

Chemical formula: H ₄ P ₂ O ₇ . Also known as diphosphoric acid. It is a tetrabasic acid formed by dehydration condensation of orthophosphoric acid H ₃ PO ₄ . It is produced by heating and dehydrating orthophosphoric acid (85%) at about 180°C under reduced pressure, or by adding a calculated amount of diphosphorus pentoxide. 4H ₃ PO ₄ + P ₂ O ₅ - → 3H ₄ P ₂ O ₇ Colorless needle-like crystals or glassy mass. The normal solid is type I (melting point 54.3°C), and when heated to about 50°C in a sealed tube, it transforms into type II (melting point 71.5°C).

化学式H₄P₂O₇。二リン酸diphosphoric acidともいう。オルトリン酸H₃PO₄が脱水縮合してできる四塩基酸である。オルトリン酸(85％)を減圧下，約180℃で加熱脱水するか，計算量の五酸化二リンを加えてつくる。　4H₃PO₄＋P₂O₅―→3H₄P₂O₇無色の針状晶またはガラス状の塊。通常の固体はI型(融点54.3℃)で，これを封管中で約50℃に熱するとII型(融点71.5℃)に転移する。
