Japanese: 一越 - ひとこし

A type of silk fabric, abbreviated as Ichigoshi Chirimen. Regular Chirimen uses untwisted raw silk for the warp and two left-twisted and right-twisted strong threads for the weft, alternately weaving together to form a Futakoshi pattern. This Chirimen uses one strong twisted weft thread, one left-twisted and one right-twisted, alternately weaving together. After weaving, it is refined to create a texture. Compared to other Chirimen, the texture is fine and supple. It has a wide range of uses as a post-dyed fabric, and can be dyed in plain or patterned ways, such as by printing. It is often used for kimono fabrics, coats, half-collars, heko obi, obiage, long juban, linings, etc., and the wide fabric is often used for Western clothing.

絹織物の一種で，一越ちりめんの略。普通のちりめんは経糸に無撚の生糸を，緯糸に左撚り，右撚りの強撚糸（きようねんし）を2本ずつ交互に打ち込んで二越（ふたこし）というのに対し，緯糸の強撚糸を左右1本ずつ交互に一越ごとに打ち込んだもの。製織後，精練を行ってシボを出す。他のちりめんと比べシボは細かくしなやかな風合いが特徴。後染織物として用途が広く無地染，捺染など柄染して用いる。着尺，コート，半襟，兵児帯，帯揚，長じゅばん，裏地等に，広幅地は洋装地に多用される。
