A type of silk fabric, abbreviated as Ichigoshi Chirimen. Regular Chirimen uses untwisted raw silk for the warp and two left-twisted and right-twisted strong threads for the weft, alternately weaving together to form a Futakoshi pattern. This Chirimen uses one strong twisted weft thread, one left-twisted and one right-twisted, alternately weaving together. After weaving, it is refined to create a texture. Compared to other Chirimen, the texture is fine and supple. It has a wide range of uses as a post-dyed fabric, and can be dyed in plain or patterned ways, such as by printing. It is often used for kimono fabrics, coats, half-collars, heko obi, obiage, long juban, linings, etc., and the wide fabric is often used for Western clothing. 絹織物の一種で,一越ちりめんの略。普通のちりめんは経糸に無撚の生糸を,緯糸に左撚り,右撚りの強撚糸(きようねんし)を2本ずつ交互に打ち込んで二越(ふたこし)というのに対し,緯糸の強撚糸を左右1本ずつ交互に一越ごとに打ち込んだもの。製織後,精練を行ってシボを出す。他のちりめんと比べシボは細かくしなやかな風合いが特徴。後染織物として用途が広く無地染,捺染など柄染して用いる。着尺,コート,半襟,兵児帯,帯揚,長じゅばん,裏地等に,広幅地は洋装地に多用される。
