1649?-80 A prince of the Indonesian island of Madura, leader of a rebellion against the Mataram Islamic kingdom. His father was killed in the Mataram court in 1656, and he himself fled to Madura fearing for his life. In 1675, he allied with Raden Kajolan, a ruler of the northeast of Mataram, and launched a rebellion against Mataram's king, Amangkulat I. The Makassarese, who had migrated from Makassar (now Ujung Pandang), and engaged in piracy on the east coast of Java, also joined in the rebellion.
