Hirohata family
The Masagimachi-Genji clan is an aristocratic family. Its founder was Tadayuki, the third son of Prince Hachijo Toshihito (the first Katsura no Miya), the grandson of Emperor Masagimachi. In other words, after Tadayuki was adopted by Tokugawa Yoshinao, the lord of Oshu, he was given the surname Minamoto and became a commoner at the age of 40 in 1663 (Kanbun 3), and was added to the ranks of the Seika and called Hirohata. For generations, the family was given a stipend of 500 koku, and many of its members, such as Toyotada, Maetoyo, and Tsunetoyo, rose to the rank of Minister of the Interior, making them important figures in the Imperial Court. Towards the end of the Edo period, Tadayoshi was appointed as a councilor and official in charge of national affairs, and after the Meiji Restoration, he became a vassal of the Muscovite Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was granted the title of marquis when the Peerage Law was enacted in 1884.
