Born: 1547. Exeter [Died] January 7, 1619, London. British miniature painter. He lived in London and excelled in metalwork and portrait painting. He painted portraits at the court of Elizabeth I. His son, Lawrence (c. 1582-1640), also became a painter, but his student I. Oliver is better known. 27 of his works are in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
