[Fishing equipment]
Regarding the types of fishing equipment, a quote from Shao Yong, a scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty, in his "Questions and Answers to Fishermen" is often quoted: "There are six things involved in fishing. First, without the right equipment, you cannot catch any fish." The six things referred to are the fishing rod, fishing line, fishhook, float, weight, and bait.
[Fishing rod]
In the West, long, thick wooden ones were used, but in the 18th century, a great advance was made when wooden ones made of plywood from tropical America and bamboo were made.
