Born in the second year of the Eiroku era. From Owari (Aichi Prefecture). He first served Toyotomi Hideyoshi and distinguished himself as one of the Seven Spears in the Battle of Shizugatake. He joined the Eastern Army in the Battle of Sekigahara and later served Tokugawa Ieyasu. He died on May 7, the fifth year of the Kanei era. He was 70 years old. His real surname was Kiyohara.
