It is a colorless crystal with a heliotrope-like odor. Melting point 57 °C, boiling point 116 °C. 1.031. 1.4953. Soluble in water, ethanol, and ether. It is sublimable and can be steam distilled. It has aromatic and tertiary amine properties. It can be reduced to piperazine.
