...Well-sorted deposits are also called well-sorted, and examples of this are desert sands that are exposed to wind for long periods of time and the gravel of beaches with high water flow energy. On the other hand, poorly sorted deposits are typically called tills. These are formed when the termini of glaciers melt and the mud and gravel mix in situ without being affected by drifting ice.
