A type of lava flow. It is made up of a collection of polyhedral blocks of roughly the same size with smooth surfaces. It develops characteristically at the tip of a thick, highly viscous lava flow, and takes on a talus shape. It is common in andesitic lava, and typical examples can be seen in the Sakurajima volcano and the Onioshidashi volcano on Mount Asama. → Related topic: Lava Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
