Japanese: 屛風土代 - びょうぶどだい

This is the handwriting of Ono no Michikaze, a calligrapher from the Heian period. It is a scroll-style poem scroll in cursive script and is housed at the Imperial Household Agency. Byobu dodai means the dodai used for writing on a folding screen, or a rough draft. There is no signature from Michikaze, but the colophon contains a note written by Fujiwara no Sadanobu when he acquired the book in 1140. According to this, this book is a rough draft that Michikaze wrote on a folding screen at the Imperial Court in 928 by imperial order, and is a poem by Oe no Asatsuna. The contents of this appraisal match an article in the Nihon Kiryaku, and the book is considered to be in Michikaze's genuine handwriting.

平安時代の能書小野道風の筆蹟。巻子本の行書の詩巻で，宮内庁蔵。屛風土代とは，屛風に清書するにあたっての土代，下書きの意味である。道風の署名はないが，奥書に藤原定信が保延6年(1140)にこの書を入手した際に記した識語がある。それによると本書は，延長6年(928)道風が勅命によって，宮中の屛風に書写したときの下書きで，大江朝綱の詩を書いたもの。この鑑定の内容は，《日本紀略》の記事とも合致し，本書は道風の真筆とされる。
