Japanese: 君津[市] - きみつ

A city in central-western Chiba prefecture facing Tokyo Bay. It was incorporated as a city in 1971. The city area occupies the Boso Hills and the lower reaches of the Koito River, with the inland area being mainly agricultural. In 1961, a large steelworks and housing complex by Nippon Steel Corporation was built on reclaimed land on the bay coast, and the city developed as the core of the southern Keiyo industrial region, with manufactured goods shipments of 589 billion yen (2003), the fifth highest in the prefecture. The Uchibo Line, Kururi Line, and Tateyama Expressway run through the city. The city suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 318.81 ^km2 . Population 89,168 (2010).

千葉県中西部東京湾に臨む市。1971年市制。市域は房総丘陵と小糸川下流部を占め，内陸部は農業を主とする。1961年湾岸の埋立地に新日本製鐵の大製鉄所と住宅団地が建設され，京葉工業地域南部の中核として発展し，県内５位の製造品出荷額5890億円（2003）を上げている。内房線，久留里線，館山自動車道が通じる。東日本大震災で，市内において被害が発生。318.81km²。８万9168人（2010）。
