traveling library

...In foreign countries, there are large trailers that can carry more than 10,000 books, and some countries use ships (book boats) and helicopters (book lifts). This library activity originated from the traveling library, which used horse-drawn carriages to lend books to areas without libraries, but in the 1900s, this was replaced by automobiles. It is said that automobile-based services were first used in the United States at the Washington County Library in Maryland in 1907, and in the UK in Manchester in 1931.
