Alfred von Kremer
1828‐89
An Austrian orientalist and cultural historian. He acquired manuscripts in Arabic and other languages ​​during his travels to the East, and published the original text of Waqidi's Book of Conquests (1856). He then published A History of the Principal Ideas of Islam (1868), which provided an overview of Islamic spiritual culture, and two volumes of The History of Oriental Culture (1875-77), which were attempts to grasp the overall picture of Islam. His other works include a work on Ibn Khaldun (1879). [Yajima Fumio]
