Fee Danxu - Hitankyoku

A painter from the Qing Dynasty in China. His pen name was Zichou, and his pen names were Xiao Lou, Guo Wong, Huan Zhu Sheng, and Huan Xi. He was born in Wucheng (Wuxing, Zhejiang Province). He is known as a contemporary Kaiqi for his portraits of beautiful women, but he also excelled in portraits using Western techniques with shading, and painted landscapes and flowers. He seems to have initially made a living selling paintings in Shanghai and Suzhou, but at the age of 32, on the recommendation of Tang Yifen, he became a guest of Zhenqitang, the painting of Mr. Wang in Hangzhou, and painted the "East Xuan Ginsha Zukan." At the Dongxuan Poetry Society, run by Wang Yuansun, Fei Danxu honed his skills in poetry and calligraphy. During this time, he often stayed with Jiang Guangxu in Haining Shaoshi, where he drew illustrations for the Yinzhuiwen Tuzheng, which was reprinted in 1844 (the 24th year of the Daoguang era). He also wrote the Ikuso Dou Iko.

中国清(しん)代の画家。字(あざな)は子苕(しちょう)、号は暁楼(ぎょうろう)・偶翁(ぐうおう)・環渚生(かんしょせい)・環渓(かんけい)。烏程(うてい)（浙江(せっこう)省呉興）の人。美人画において同時代の改琦(かいき)と並び称されるが、陰影を施した西洋技法による肖像画も卓抜しており、ほかに山水、花卉(かき)なども描いた。初め上海(シャンハイ)、蘇州(そしゅう)などで売画生活を送っていたらしいが、32歳のとき湯貽汾(とういふん)の推薦で杭(こう)州の汪(おう)氏の振綺堂(しんきどう)の客となり、『東軒吟社図巻』を描く。汪遠孫(おうえんそん)の主催するこの東軒吟社で、費丹旭は詩詞と書に磨きを加えた。その間、しばしば海寧硤石(かいねいきょうせき)の蒋光煦(しょうこうく)の別下斎(べっかさい)に寄寓(きぐう)し、1844年（道光24）翻刻の『陰隲文図証(いんしつぶんずしょう)』の挿図を描いた。著に『依旧草堂遺稿(いきゅうそうどういこう)』がある。
