Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (English: Chinese Academy of Social Sciences)

Japanese: 中国社会科学院 - ちゅうごくしゃかいかがくいん（英語表記）Zhōng guó shè huì kē xué yuàn

Its predecessor was the School of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (established in 1955). In 1977 it became independent and became the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. After adjustments in the 1990s, it now has 31 directly affiliated research institutes with over 30 academic publications, as well as the China Social Sciences Press, Social Science Literature Press, Social Science Information Center, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Graduate School, with a staff of approximately 5,000. In addition, there are social science academies led by local governments in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Hubei, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, and other areas, which maintain mutual independence while maintaining cooperative relationships.
